Quiet Miracles—Your Weekly Reflection

In today’s Gospel, John the Baptist sends a message to Jesus with a question: “Are you the one who is to come, or should we look for another?”
Jesus responds: “Go and tell John what you hear and see: the blind regain their sight, the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the poor have the good news proclaimed to them.”
The actions Jesus proclaims are joyous miracles—all signs of God’s salvation. And they remind us why this third Sunday of Advent is called Gaudete Sunday, a day centered on joy and hopeful expectation as we draw nearer to Christmas.
Gaudete Sunday invites us to look for our own signs of hope. Quiet miracles happen every day if we let ourselves recognize them. As we continue our Advent journey, we hold close to the truth that hope is present wherever people choose love, mercy, and justice.
