Dr. Gergely Pataki is the founder of Action for Defenceless People Foundation. Established in 2002, the organization works both in Hungary and in developing countries to provide specialized surgeries to those who cannot afford them or live in settings where the resources do not exist to provide them. Their patients are primarily women and children who suffer from congenital malformations and burn scars. In Bangladesh, the organization has provided over 500 reconstructive surgeries since 2010. In 2019, he undertook the extraordinary challenge to separate conjoined twins. With a donation from Integra LifeSciences, CMMB’s Medical Donations program was able to supply Duragen Plus Barrier Matrix for the successful surgery. You can read our full story on the operation here.
Dr. Pataki was born in Hungary. He received his medical degree in Budapest and completed general surgery training and plastic surgery residency in Hungary and Germany. In addition to overseeing operations of the Action for Defenceless People Foundation, Dr. Pataki has completed scholarships in plastic and reconstructive surgery in Brazil, Holland, and the USA, and his international experience includes Germany, Ireland, and Australia. His dedication to the field of medical practice is matched only by his commitment to those in need served by Action for Defenceless People. Asked about the strategy behind the work he said, “health needs are endless, you can always get a slightly better quality of life.”
CMMB hopes to continue supporting Dr. Pataki’s highly targeted work to improve the lives of those in need, one surgery at a time.
Thank you, Dr. Pataki!
