Our Faith in Times of Crisis—Your Weekly Reflection

In today’s Gospel, Jesus tells us, “I am the living bread that came down from heaven.” His words remind us that our faith is a source of hope and strength.
Jesus offers Himself “for the life of the world,” inviting us to share His love through service to others. Guided by our faith, we are called to care for our neighbors—especially during times of hardship, illness, or uncertainty.
At CMMB, we are leaning on our faith as reports of Ebola cases emerge in countries neighboring where we work in South Sudan. With the threat of the disease crossing borders, we are preparing frontline health workers who are out in the community, visiting families at home, and those serving in facilities along or near the borders of Uganda and the DRC.
We pray that preparations and precautions are enough, but we know that borders are permeable. Readiness is an essential act of care that helps ensure communities and health workers are equipped to respond quickly and effectively.
During these times of uncertainty, we find inspiration in Jesus’s mission to bring hope, healing, and dignity to a world in need.
