In today’s Gospel, we find Jesus, his mother, and his disciples attending a wedding. The events we read are significant in our faith, revealing a sign of Jesus’ identity. For us at CMMB, it inspires us to consider our impact.

At the wedding, Jesus is told there is not enough wine. He asks the servers to fill six stone jars to the brim with water. When the head waiter tastes what was water, we learn has become wine.

“Jesus did this as the beginning of his signs at Cana at Galilee and so revealed his glory, and his disciples began to believe him.” – John 2:11

This moment is celebrated as an epiphany, but it also indicates the value Jesus sees in all people. We may consider the wedding feast and the transformation of water into wine as metaphors. Jesus took action on behalf of others. He did not hesitate; he simply gave.

When we reflect on the state of the world, it can feel overwhelming. Such great need exists—and seems to grow daily. At CMMB, we trust in Jesus’ presence. We trust in his mission. Our work may take us to one person at a time, but we know that with Jesus, one turns to two, then four, then eight, and so on. Our impact will build over time so long as we continue in Jesus’ footsteps without hesitation.
