See Those Who Go Unseen—Your Weekly Reflection

In today’s Gospel, Jesus looks upon the crowds around Him with compassion. He observes they are “troubled and abandoned, like sheep without a shepherd.” He then sends His disciples to accompany those in need, bringing healing, hope, and the assurance that they are not alone.
This same call continues today. We are invited to notice those who may be carrying burdens that are not immediately visible. At CMMB, accompaniment is at the heart of our work. In Peru, community health workers journey alongside pregnant women and new mothers, supporting not only their physical health but also their emotional well-being.
Maternal mental health can be a silent struggle, with many women facing anxiety, depression, or feelings of isolation without the support they need. That’s why we train community health workers to identify signs, encourage conversation, and make connections with CMMB psychologists for that very support.
Like the disciples sent out by Jesus, we are called to accompany those facing life’s challenges, especially when those struggles may go unnoticed by others. Our hope is that all mothers know they are seen, valued, and never alone.
