For more than a century, CMMB has put our Catholic faith into action—guided by our core values of collaboration, love, excellence, accountability, and respect. At the start of the Lenten season, we set out to explore how Catholic Social Teachings shape and strengthen our mission through a special Weekly Reflection series. Drawing on the Gospel and our commitment to service, each reflection offers a lens for understanding the faith that moves us. Here, we have compiled the complete series for further exploring and reflection.

1) Life and Dignity of the Human Person: The Choices We Make

Catholic Social Teachings tell us of one of the most fundamental choices we make: to honor the sacredness of every human person. This is an easy choice—to treat others with kindness and open our hearts to love. But an easy choice still requires something from us. Read more.

2) Call to Family, Community, and Participation: After the Mountaintop

Moments of clarity in faith are gifts. And how we use this clarity matters. In many ways, our Catholic Social Teachings leave us with moments of clarity. On the second Sunday of Lent, we reflect on Jesus’s call to family, community, and participation—and then we step forward to help ensure that every family has the opportunity to thrive. Read more.

3) Rights and Responsibilities: Where No One Will Thirst

Catholic Social Teachings affirm that every person has the right to life and to the resources needed to live with dignity. Necessities like safe water, nutritious food, healthcare, and safe childbirth are the foundations of CMMB’s mission to build healthier lives worldwide. Sadly, too many families around the world lack access to the essential services that protect life. Read more.

4) Option for the Poor and Vulnerable: Choose to See

The fourth theme calls us to make a commitment to those who have the least among us—to see those who are most often overlooked. In a world where inequality continues to grow, the most vulnerable are too frequently overlooked. Read more.

The fifth theme reminds us that work is more than a job. It is an expression of human dignity. Every worker deserves to be seen, protected, and supported. Yet in underserved and remote communities, healthcare workers carry enormous burdens—and something as basic as clean water is not always guaranteed. Read more.

The sixth theme calls us to solidarity. It’s the conviction that no matter where we live or what we believe, we are one human family. We are called to love our neighbor, especially in places where suffering is real. Read more.

7) Care for God’s Creation: Dutiful Stewards

Weekly reflection featuring quote from the bible.

Jesus speaks of a shepherd whose voice is known and trusted among his flock. Each day he leads his sheep towards peace and safety. The sheep follow because of the trust he has so dutifully stewarded through care and compassion. The seventh and final theme calls us to protect both people and the planet we share. It is a form of stewardship: leading in ways that safeguard the home that has been entrusted to us—and sharing its abundance with sustainability and equity.  Read more.
