Fathers. Footsteps. Mission—Your Weekly Reflection
In today’s Gospel, Jesus tasks his disciples with lifechanging purpose. They are to follow in his footsteps and carry his mission forward.
“As you go, make this proclamation: The kingdom of heaven is at hand. Cure the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, drive out demons. Without cost you have received; without cost you are to give.” – Matthew 10:5-8
There are many ways one might faithfully embrace such a calling. At CMMB, our very mission is founded in Jesus’ footsteps. And as a faith-inspired nonprofit, we aspire to fulfill our mission every day, by acting always with love, compassion, and trust.
Today, on Father’s Day, we celebrate the father figures around the world, who embody these values. At CMMB, one of these individuals is Joseph Mutunga Musau, a community role model and project officer in Kenya. In the following words, Joseph reflects on how his role as a father motivates his work in the community.
“As a father, I’m fortunate to be able to feed my child, but we cannot forget those who are not. If your baby is full, remember someone else’s baby is going to sleep hungry. We should think of them and continue reaching them in any way possible,” said Joseph.
There’s more to be inspired by on this Father’s Day. Find Joseph’s full reflection on the blessing of fatherhood on our blog. From all of us at CMMB, we wish you and all the father figures in your life a very happy, healthy Father’s Day.
