The Fourth Sunday of Advent: Your Weekly Catholic Reflection
Finally, on this the Fourth Sunday of Advent, our Gospel Reading allows us to begin our contemplation of the mystery we celebrate at Christmas:
“Now this is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about.”
The angel’s message in Joseph’s dream tells us much about the child that Mary is carrying and his role in God’s plan. He is conceived by the Holy Spirit and his name will be Jesus, which in the Hebrew means “Yahweh saves.”
When Joseph awakens, he does as the angel directs. He takes Mary to be his wife and accepts her child as his own. Joseph and Mary accept and trust in God’s plan.
In what ways are we called to trust God in our own lives?
So many of the people we have the privilege to serve are desperately poor, but trust that God will answer their prayers and provide. While they have few material possessions and often cannot meet basic needs, they are blessed with great faith. They believe.
Today we’re sharing our latest digital newsletter so you can read about our new Angel Investor program, an opportunity to meaningfully engage with families living in extreme poverty. As a member of our global community, we know you will be moved as you read stories of vulnerable women, children and families who are counting on us to share in their struggles and eventual success.
