In today’s Gospel, Jesus speaks to us in two parables. In both, we see themes about trust. In the first parable, he introduces us to a man who scatters seeds on the ground: “Night and day, whether he sleeps or gets up, the seed sprouts and grows, though he does not know how,” Jesus tells us.

In the second parable, Jesus compares the Kingdom of God to a mustard seed. Though incredibly small, when the seed sprouts, it grows into a strong plant: “But once it is sown, it springs up and becomes the largest of plants and puts forth large branches, so that the birds of the sky can dwell in its shade,” Jesus explains.

What might one take away from these parables in the context of our own lives? At CMMB, we are drawn to the concept of patience, trust, and faith. We trust that the Kingdom of God will come to fruition, just as we trust that the work we do to deliver health around the world today, will transform lives for generations to come.

We would like to close today’s reflection by wishing those celebrating Father’s Day today, a very peaceful day surrounded by those you love. Thank you for tending to the well-being of your family, just as the farmer nurtures his crops. Happy Father’s Day!
