We just received this beautiful story from Kathleen and Al Hartmann about one of the amazing ‘Gogo’s’ (grandmothers) their home-based care team support in in Swaziland (now eSwatini).  The Hartmanns are long-time CMMB volunteers who have been providing home-based care in the country for over 16 years with no sign of stopping. Their team serves some of the most vulnerable and poor people in Swaziland; perhaps in the world. These are people – often elderly and frail grandparents – who live so remotely that they cannot reach the healthcare they desperately need. Their work is inspiring but today they share the story of someone who inspires them.

We would like you to meet a Gogo who brings joy to the life to all those around her.
Gog in Swaziland is a hero. The Hartmanns.
She is in her mid-90’s and lives in one of the most remote and impoverished communities in the area where we work. She fell and broke her hip but she refused to let it stop here. She was determined to be able to walk again.
She was sent to Mbabane Government Hospital where she received a hip replacement. With great determination and with the help of a loving family and many visits from the home-based care team, she now not only walks again, but she is dancing with joy. She lives with gratitude.

Gogo story from Kathleen

During the day, while everyone else is at work, in the fields, or in school, this Gogo stays home alone caring for a small grandchild.

A Joyful Dance

We hope this video will brighten your day!
