Meet Iyabode Laguda, Intern
Iyabode Laguna is currently a senior at SUNY Old Westbury, majoring in public health. She will receive her bachelors of science in public health May 2018. She enjoys helping people the best way she can. She loves trying and seeing new things. She would one day like to run her own medical clinic. Here are some more fun facts about Iyabode.

If you were asked to sum yourself up in two words, which two would you choose? humble yet bold
Why CMMB? CMMB, exemplifies everything I would like to do in my career, and that is providing health care access to those in need specifically women and children who are affected by poverty and unequal access.
What are you most proud of? Becoming a mentor for young high school girls in my community, teaching them self love and life skill management
Imagine you are stuck in an elevator. Who would you most like to be stuck with? And why? I would like to be stuck with Rihanna because I am a big fan of her philanthropy work and I love everything about her.

What would be your theme song? Diva by Beyonce
Imagine if you were an animal or instrument – which would you be and why? Black panther because they are beautiful and I feel they are powerful and protective
What is your hope for your experience volunteering with CMMB? I hope to gain valuable world health knowledge and a step into my career.

What book should everyone read? Why? The Great Gatsby, because it gives a timeless insight into human nature and how failure can breed success.
Who would you like to play you in the movie of your life? Lupita Nyong’o
What is your hope for the future? To run a hospital or clinic; become someone young girls from urban communities or young girls in general can look up to.
If you could solve one world problem, what would it be? Access to health care
What are the three things you are most grateful for? Family, education, and opportunities
Who is your biggest inspiration? Why? My Mom, she immigrated to America from Senegal with nothing. I want to be her prize that she came to America and created a young lady who is going to help better the world.
